Honest Motor mostly use two types of 4-stroke engines for customers,OHC engine(CB engine)and 0HV(CG engine),some customers who is new to motorcycle business often ask us the difference between them,today Honest motor technical team will list their differences as follows:
1,OHC ENGINE(CB ENGINE):
The camshaft is at the top of the engine cylinder head, and the cam directly controls the valve rocker arm. The cam and the crankshaft are connected by a chain,that is why we often call it CB engine,the displacement can be from 50cc to 1000cc or even larger.
Advantages:
Compared with OHV engine, OHC engine is quiet and smooth,especially when you ride with high speed,you can feel its perfect power support.
Disadvantages:
It’s more expensive than OHV engine,the durability of the chain and cam is shorter,and when you drive with low speed,the torque is not as big as OHV engine.
2,OHV ENGINE(CG ENGINE):
The camshaft is in the crankcase, the cam is connected with the crankshaft directly, and the cam controls the valve rocker arm through the push-rod, we often call it CG engine,it designed mostly for single-cylinder and V-cylinder from 100cc to 250cc.
Advantages:
Simple structure, lower cost, large torque at low speed, and good durability.
Disadvantages:
Loud noise, larger vibration, and the performance is not as good as OHC engine when you drive with high speed.
Now most of our customers prefer to choose the OHC engine because its comfortable riding experiences and acceptable price difference,according to the exporting data of 2021,the model with OHC engines takes around 89% of the total.
